SVG Lüneburg triumphs after falling behind: home win in the volleyball thriller!

In an exciting start to the season, SVG Lüneburg won its first game in the Volleyball Bundesliga with a dramatic 3-2 win against Barock Volleys Ludwigsburg. The Lüneburgers, who were behind after losing two sets, showed perseverance and prevailed in the tiebreak with 15:12. “The narrow victory is totally fine,” commented SVG coach Stefan Hübner, remembering similar situations from last season that gave him déjà vu. After a weak start, a change in the team was necessary to bring a breath of fresh air into the game.

Particularly noteworthy are the performances of captain Jesse Elser and Axel Enlund, who had a positive influence on the team dynamic. From the third set onwards, there was great progress in defense and game control, which meant that the attacks of the diagonal player Hero Omene from Ludwigsburg could be better controlled. Hübner was optimistic for the next home game against the Volley Goats Mitteldeutschland, which will take place on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the LKH Arena. “All the players are fit, including Jackson Howe,” he added.

SVG Lüneburg: An integral part of the volleyball landscape

SVG Lüneburg is not only Northern Germany's largest volleyball club, but has also established itself as a flagship for volleyball in the region. The SVG Lüneburg e.V. syndicate includes both recreational athletes and the Bundesliga team, which creates a unique connection. Since promotion to the first division in 2014, the SVG has been at the top of the men's Bundesliga and attracts talent from various nations, often from American and Canadian college sports.

The family atmosphere within the SVG family often allows players to stay here and develop further. National players and promising talents repeatedly use SVG as a springboard. Prominent mentions include Markus Böckermann, who was an Olympian in 2016, and Julius Thole, part of the Bundesliga promotion team, who was also there in Tokyo in 2021. The team from numerous nations not only ensures a colorful atmosphere, but also a high level of sporting quality.

The league at a glance
