It's very Christmas in Northern Germany! On December 7, 2025, 57 members of the SoVD Klein Hehlen/Hehlentor visited the Christmas market at the town hall and the historic Christmas market in Lüneburg. Under the leadership of women's representative Gabriele Weigt, the group experienced a charming piece of history.
The markets transported visitors back in time to the 16th century. Farmers, craftsmen and traders were everywhere, whose stalls exuded an atmosphere like the Renaissance. The wonderful scent of mulled wine, roasted almonds and freshly roasted chestnuts enveloped the air. On top of that, the warmth of the charcoal stoves nestled perfectly in the winter breeze.
Cultural experiences and Christmas joy
The trip to the Christmas market was not only an opportunity to browse and feast, but also an experience for the senses. There was great enthusiasm for singing and telling stories on the bus. These happy activities created a mixed conviviality on the trip.
A special highlight was a game in which some participants were able to win chocolate Santa Clauses. So the fun was inevitable and the anticipation of Christmas inevitably increased for everyone. The conclusion of the event was clearly positive: the participants enjoyed the excursions and are already planning to travel abroad again at Christmas time.
