Huder Tennis Club celebrates 45 years with Mischa Zverev – Be there!

The Huder Tennis Club (HTV) is celebrating an important anniversary this year: 45 years of club history! The club was founded in 1980, before the big tennis boom began in the 1980s. Over the years, the HTV has developed from its humble beginnings with four tennis courts and a farmhouse as a club meeting point into a modern sports facility with six outdoor courts and a new hall with three hard courts. Edo Addicks, who is still active as a groundskeeper at the age of 83, can tell many stories about the club's development. Reports the Weser-Kurier.

The club has now recovered well from the initial difficulties that the club had due to financial problems during the Corona period. Thanks to numerous sponsors, the club was able to overcome its challenges. In addition, those responsible have switched the catering business from a tenant to volunteer staff. The Huder Tennis Club has also taken forward-looking steps in terms of technology, such as the introduction of the digital booking system “Book-and-Play” for court reservations and a camera-based analysis system that helps players improve their playing level.

Big anniversary celebrations

The 45th anniversary will be celebrated in a big way on Sunday, July 20th! With celebrities from the tennis scene: Mischa Zverev will be a guest in Hude and offer an exciting program. The celebration begins at 11 a.m. with HTV youth training, followed by a second leg challenge and a show match with Zverev from 12 p.m. For all tennis fans and those interested, there will also be a raffle and an auction of signed items from 2 p.m. An interview with Mischa Zverev is planned for 3 p.m. and of course the physical well-being of the guests will be taken care of.

The HTV currently has around 300 members, aged between under 10 and over 80. The open membership aims to encourage people of all ages and skill levels to take up tennis, which strengthens the sense of community in the club and ensures a lot of enjoyment of the sport. Anyone interested is warmly invited to join the club and share their passion for tennis together. The Web portal of the Huder Tennis Club provides further information.

Tennis – a long tradition in Germany

Tennis has a long history in Germany, dating back to the 19th century. The German Tennis Association, founded in 1902, has made a decisive contribution to the development of the sport. While the first German tennis clubs sprouted up in the 1880s, tennis clubs reached an impressive peak in the 1980s with over a million members. Names like Steffi Graf and Boris Becker shaped the German tennis landscape and brought great success and national enthusiasm to the sport. The complete development and tradition of German tennis is a fascinating chapter that has also deeply influenced the Huder Tennis Club, because the roots of the sport are strongly anchored in the community.
