Osnabrück Migration Center celebrates 10 years of successful integration!

On June 18, 2025, the Osnabrück Migration Center celebrated an impressive tenth anniversary in the Osnabrück district hall. Around 100 guests were on site to celebrate the successes and developments of the work so far. The Migration Centre, which has been active since its founding in 2015, was originally set up to support the integration of EU citizens. But the focus has quickly changed and now also includes the integration of refugees from Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine. During this time, the migration center was able to successfully place over 950 people into the job market, which is a real success story. The migration center offers support for people with an immigration history, regardless of their residence status. It works closely with the immigration authorities and integration officers and has built up a broad network of partners. This ranges from authorities and public institutions to volunteer consultants. The aim is to develop individual perspectives for education and work and to promote social integration. Niedersachsen tackles explains that...

Diverse support offers

The range of services offered by the migration center is diverse. It includes, among other things, initial orientation and advice, support in professional recognition and individual language support. The language courses are specifically designed to fill gaps in qualifications and optimally prepare participants for the job market. One focus is on municipal employment services for those interested in embarking on new career paths.

Cooperation with economic development agencies and other specialist agencies in the Osnabrück district facilitates access to the labor market and supports the adaptation of qualifications. In this way, participants not only receive the necessary language support, but also the opportunity to develop professionally and gain a foothold in stable employment. The tailor-made offers are designed to support each person individually and to respond to their specific needs.

Integration of refugees in Germany

In the context of the integration of refugees, Germany has taken in many people seeking protection over the last year and a half, primarily from Ukraine. These refugees benefit from easier integration into the labor market through European decisions that give them immediate access. The integration course system was expanded quickly and 100,000 Ukrainians have already successfully taken part in integration courses. The Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS) is committed to accelerating the integration process. BMAS informs that ...

The integration follows a well-thought-out “three-phase model” that ranges from basic orientation to qualification and stabilization of employment. This ensures that refugees not only gain quick access to the world of work, but can also develop prospects for their future in their new home country.

The Osnabrück Migration Center plays a crucial role here and shows how important close cooperation between all actors in integration work is. It remains exciting to see how the activities and the integration of people will develop in the coming years.
