The HelmFest, one of the most famous metal festivals in the region, will once again attract numerous metal fans to Büddenstedt, very close to Helmstedt, from July 31st to August 2nd, 2025. How news38 reports, the festival has now become an integral part of the German metal map.
The festival was originally supposed to take place in Reinsdorf, but due to unexpected circumstances - the wheat on the original site was not yet ready - the venue was moved to Büddenstedt, behind substation II, just two weeks before the start. At the festival, visitors can expect not only a diverse music scene, but also a diverse audience. In recent years, the guests have included families, seniors and small children.
A special festival atmosphere
What makes HelmFest so special? The atmosphere! The organizers attach great importance to ensuring that everything is well organized and, unlike many large festivals, there is no chaos or mud here. “Compared to Wacken Open Air, the atmosphere here is much more familiar,” said one visitor. The positive vibe and relaxed attitude among fans creates a special community that also included 96-year-old Edelgard and a two-year-old child wearing earmuffs.
Another highlight this year was the exciting raffle of a 1975 Harley Davidson, which visitor Britta won. HelmFest has evolved greatly from its beginnings in 2012, when it was first planned, to the event it is today. The festival experienced its first sellout in 2023, with many attendees switching from large festivals to this intimate event.
Visitor numbers and future plans
The number of visitors to HelmFest shows constant growth. After the Corona-related cancellation in 2020, only 650 visitors were counted in 2021, while 700 fans already arrived in 2022. In 2023 and 2024, 1,000 visitors flocked to the festival. The same number is expected for 2025, which underlines the success of the festival. For the future, HelmFest e. V. exciting plans: From 2025 the site will be moved to Kreisstraße 22, a step that will use the experience gained to further expand and improve the festival. This means that the HelmFest remains very popular not only in Lower Saxony, but also nationwide.
