A1 closures from November 24th: Massive construction work announced!

In the coming weeks, all drivers who drive on the A1 between Wildeshausen-Nord and Delmenhorst-Ost will have to prepare for significant restrictions. A comprehensive renovation of the dilapidated concrete slabs will begin on November 24, 2025, which will be carried out in several stages. AZ Online reports that the first major construction phase will start with a complete night-time closure of the Bremen/Hamburg carriageway on the night of November 24th to 25th. This measure will be accompanied by further nighttime closures to create space for the necessary redirection and abandonment of traffic.

In order not to burden traffic unnecessarily, the work will be divided into two stages. For the first stage, partial closures are planned from November 25th to 28th while the replacement of the concrete slabs is carried out. During this time the maximum speed is 80 km/h. The construction project affects the sections between kilometers 128,400 and 125,400, with the roadway towards Hamburg being affected.

The second stage

The second stage of the construction work will follow directly on December 1st, when the carriageway will be affected by further full closures. This work affects the section between kilometers 125,500 and 122,600. Additional nighttime closures and partial closures will be carried out here from December 2nd to 5th. Drivers must be prepared that the section in question will not be accessible again until the new concrete has reached the required strength.

Diversions and impacts

In order to keep traffic moving as smoothly as possible during construction work, various diversions will be set up. National traffic will be redirected from the Ahlhorner Heide motorway triangle via the A29, the Oldenburg-Ost junction and the A28 to the Stuhr triangle. Anyone traveling in the direction of Bremen or Hamburg should follow the orange signs with the abbreviation HH. During the nightly closures, the U23 diversion via the B213 to the A28 will also be signposted. Particularly important: The Wildeshausen-Nord and Groß Ippener ramps will remain closed during the work towards Bremen/Hamburg.

Road users traveling in the coming weeks can expect heavy traffic flow, which will be significantly affected by the renovation work. That's why it's important for everyone to plan time reserves and be sure to pay attention to the closures and diversions.
