Serious accident on B71: Four injured after a rear -end collision!

A serious traffic accident occurred on June 16, 2025 on federal road 71 between Uelzen and Hanstedt II. The incident was triggered by a technical problem of the vehicle of a 30-year-old driver, which caused him to keep him on the side of the road. Unfortunately, a 30-year-old Skoda driver noticed the holding car too late and collided with him.

Several people were injured in this collision. In addition to the driver of the stand-up vehicle, who is also 30 years old, the Skoda driver and two inmates in the Skoda-a 25-year-old and a 3-year-old child-also suffered serious injuries. All injuries were immediately brought to the city clinic by ambulance. The property damage amounts to over 25,000 euros. The investigation into the exact cause of the accident is constantly in order to explore potential security risks.

Frequency of traffic accidents

The sad truth is that traffic accidents are still very popular in Germany. According to Statista there were around 2.5 million road traffic accidents in 2023. This number had to increase as a result of increasing traffic. The fact that the number of accidents with personal injury has remained at a constant level is particularly worrying, while there is only a downward trend in the road dead.

The reasons for accidents are diverse - insufficient distance, non -adapted speed and drive under the influence of alcohol are the most common causes. In 2023, 15,700 alcohol -related accidents were registered with personal injury, in which 193 people were killed. The situation shows that despite all efforts to reduce the number of accidents, such as the "Vision Zero" of the EU, the objective of having no traffic fattening by 2050 are still there.

Current traffic conditions

These recent incidents also illustrate the dangers on the federal road 71. Another serious accident only occurred on the same route in December 2024, in which a 70-year-old man died tragically. In this incident, a Skoda SUV and a BMW collapsed head-on after the 81-year-old person who caused the accident when overtaking a vehicle lost control. In a rapid rescue operation, the fire brigade and emergency services had to intervene to free the trapped. Bundesstraße 71 was therefore closed to traffic for several hours.

The police initiated thorough investigations in both cases to clarify the causes and prevent further accidents. It remains to be hoped that targeted measures can increase the security on our streets in the future in order to minimize such tragic incidents.
