SV Hohnstorf shines in fair play: participation in the AZ Press Cup!
On November 17, 2025, SV Hohnstorf can celebrate a special success: The team qualified for the 16th AZ Press Cup for the first time via the fair play ranking. This is particularly notable as SV Hohnstorf is the first team from the 4th district class to take part in this prestigious tournament. Player-coach Volker Gödecke is visibly proud of his team, which has only received one yellow card this season and has only received a total of eight warnings in ten games.
With an outstanding fair play quotient of 0.80 penalty points per game, SV Hohnstorf is at the top of all first men's teams in the district and thus sets standards in terms of sporting performance and fairness. The wonderful 8-0 win against Germania Ripdorf II last Sunday was the icing on the cake of an extremely fair season and will now be rewarded with participation in the AZ Press Cup on January 3rd in the HEG Hall. “Our players not only impressed with their football, but also with their exemplary attitude,” the club praised its players.
Ticket sales and further details
Ticket sales for the AZ Press Cup will take place on Saturday, December 6th, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the AZ Media House in Uelzen. There is great anticipation for the tournament and fans are invited to support their teams.
But what about the competition in the district league? In the current season, district class 4 is led by an exciting quartet. TSV Altenfurt and VfL Nürnberg started as the top teams, while ESV Marshallingyard topped the table for nine weeks. Türk FK Gostenhof has had the upper hand since matchday 12 and remains unbeaten. VfL Nürnberg's offensive, led by Manuel Mutove with 24 goals and Ciro Maglione, who scored five goals in a single game, is particularly drawing attention. The defense of the ESV marshalling yard is also strong and has only conceded 18 goals.
Fairness in focus
The league’s fair play statistics are also interesting. TB Johannis 88 leads the fairness table, followed by Mögeldorf II, which was not sent off in 14 games. While some teams like Gostenhof and VfL Nürnberg have the most time penalties, there are also outstanding teams that stand out for their sportsmanship. Among the spectators, TSV Altenfurt is in the lead with an average of over 100 spectators.
All in all, the current season in district class 4 shows that, in addition to sporting success, the idea of fairness and community is becoming increasingly important. SV Hohnstorf acts as an exemplary example that not only scores goals, but also shines as a fair sportsman. The AZ Press Cup will certainly be an exciting event where spectators will get their money's worth.
