Break-ins and accidents shake Vechta: Police are looking for witnesses!
The region around Vechta and Cloppenburg has not been spared from accidents and crimes in the last few days. On June 22, 2025, the police reported several incidents that caused a stir.
Burglary in waste management
On the night of June 20th to 21st there was one Burglary at the waste management company Vechta. Unknown perpetrators gained access to the premises by opening a chain-link fence. As a result, several old clothing and electronic waste containers as well as mesh boxes were ransacked. The Vechta police are asking for information on 04441 / 943-0.
Burglary is regulated according to the legal requirements in Section 243 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code and represents a serious case of theft. Breaking into someone else's building is crucial, which, in the opinion of experts, makes the act a serious crime. The penalties for such an offense can range from six months to ten years in prison. The police, however, rely on preventive measures and technical security solutions to prevent such incidents.
Traffic accidents make more headlines
On the same day there was a traffic accident in Vechta at 12:30 a.m. in which a motorcyclist fled. The incident occurred between the car of a 21-year-old Dinklager woman and the motorcycle on Münsterstrasse. Police are asking witnesses to come forward to locate the fleeing driver.
Another accident occurred in Visbek around 3:10 a.m. when a 40-year-old driver crossed the lane markings and collided with an oncoming 36-year-old from Hesse. A breath alcohol test revealed that the 40-year-old had a blood alcohol level of 2.34. His driver's license was revoked and a blood sample was taken. The 36-year-old suffered minor injuries in the accident and there was significant damage to both vehicles.
These incidents are a reminder not only to be careful on the roads, but also when it comes to home safety. Statistics show that almost every second burglary fails because perpetrators take too long to get into the building. This highlights the need for an effective Burglary protection. The police therefore recommend primarily mechanical security measures that cover crucial weak points in doors and windows. Once again it becomes clear how important prevention and vigilance are in countering such incidents.
