Egestorf is fighting for the lead in the top game against Wilhelmshaven!

Next Saturday, September 5th, 2025, is for the 1. FC Germania Egestorf/Langreder a real top game on the schedule. The team travels to SV Wilhelmshaven, where kick-off takes place at 2 p.m. The anticipation is great, as a win will mean taking the lead in the Lower Saxony Oberliga.

Coach Boris Besovic has every reason to be confident. After the impressive 5-0 win against SV Holthausen Biene, he describes his team's performance as “confident and orderly”. In such an important game, motivation is particularly high because the club is still on the way up. Egestorf has proven several times in the past that they are well on their way to climbing to the next level after being promoted to the Regionalliga Nord in 2016.

About the club and its history

The 1. FC Germania Egestorf/Langreder was founded in March 2001 through the merger of the clubs TSV Egestorf and TSV Langreder. Aimed at combining one club's extensive youth department with the other's men's team, the club has achieved impressive success in recent years. After a solid initial phase in the district league, Egestorf celebrated promotion to the Lower Saxony league and later to the regional league.

The club is currently playing in the Lower Saxony Oberliga, where it has already shown high ambitions. Placements like second place in the 2015-16 Lower Saxony League, which led to promotion to the Regionalliga, are nice, but returning to higher leagues remains a goal. The current season looks promising, and fans hope that the team not only aims for the top spot in the league, but also achieves it.

Personnel changes and challenges

Nils Hoffmann, a talented 19-year-old central defender, was also signed this season. Hoffmann, who previously played for VfL Wolfsburg in the U19s, will not be in the squad for the upcoming game because he is lacking in training. However, Besovic rates him as “robust and bright” and sees him as a valuable reinforcement for defensive work. Sports director Paul Nieber emphasizes that signing top talent from the region is an important part of the club's strategy.

Another point that Besovic had to address is the absence of Tigrinho, who may not be able to play due to illness. Nevertheless, the coach is optimistic about the challenges ahead, as Nick Bode is back in training after his injury and is therefore part of the squad again.

With a strong squad and a proper preparation phase, the team is ready to take the next step. The Lower Saxony Oberliga has experienced an interesting development in recent years. The structure allows the champions of the Oberliga and the runners-up to be promoted to the Regionalliga, and that is exactly what Egestorf is aiming for. The spectators can look forward to an exciting duel when it comes to the important points against Wilhelmshaven on Saturday.
