What an exciting thing next to it! The "wind pants" of the WSSV Wilhelmshaven have made a lot of impression on the recently took place in the North German championships in the Ultimate Frisbee in Göttingen and Oldenburg. The U14 team prevailed impressively and was able to secure its fourth title in a row. At the same time, the U17 team became runner-up, which underlines the performance of the young athletes in this rapidly growing sport. This shows that Ultimate Frisbee-Sport is not only regional, but also nationally.
A total of two U14 teams took part in the tournament, which were divided into an experienced and a less experienced team. Under the coaching trio consisting of Thomas Kurth, Mascha Gatzke and Willy Marx, they mobilized 20 children for the competitions. The U14 A team went out of the tournament unbeaten, while the B team, after a narrow first game, had the potential flashing in the duel against their club colleagues, but ultimately lost in the "universe". Nevertheless, they ended their tournament with a clear victory over Hamburg and secured fourth place.

The U17 team fought hard and ended up in second place after an unfortunate division of points with Kiel/Lübeck. Another highlight was the A team of the U20, which emerged in his two encounters against Osnabrück as a northern German champion. These successes make it clear that the "wind pants" will find themselves in all three age categories at the German Championships next September.
But not only in the WSSV youth there is hard fighting. At the FranziskiSchule in Wilhelmshaven, the "Franz Diskus teams" also achieved remarkable success during the school championship in June 2023-two second places and once the third place! For the coming school year 2023/24, two regular AGS for Ultimate Frisbee are planned there, one for the 6th year with nine students under the direction of Willy Marx and Mathis Kurth, both former U-17 international.

Ultimate Frisbee is enjoying increasing popularity in Germany. According to current statistics, there are around 4,800 players in over 110 clubs in Germany. This sport is played with a strong fair play idea. No referees are used, which promotes the "Spirit of the Game", the fair game and respect among the players.
