United Wolfsburg: New club for women's football takes off!

On April 5, 2025, a new football club was launched in Wolfsburg that is dedicated to promoting girls' and women's football. The United Wolfsburg Football Club, initiated by seven committed people, has set itself the goal of improving the conditions for women in sport. The club's chairman is the motivated Jan Lippel, who, together with a team of currently nine members, including three trainers, is planning the first steps for a successful start. The club is already entered in the club register and wants to start playing in the 2026/27 season.

A special feature of United Wolfsburg is its focus on digitalization and a strong presence on social media. The club already has several hundred followers on Instagram, which shows that interest in this fresh approach is high. Lippel and his team are working on offering boys' and men's teams in the future and have already had initial discussions with the city of Wolfsburg about suitable sports facilities. The aim is to create training opportunities at various locations in the city and also to enter into collaborations with other clubs.

A glimmer of hope for women's football

The club has clear long-term goals: the men's team should be promoted to the district league within five years, while at the same time the focus remains strongly on girls' and women's football. Former Bundesliga player Franziska Unzeitig will take on the role of team manager and will ensure that values such as fairness and respectful treatment are upheld in children's and youth football. United Wolfsburg appears in the club colors black, white and gold and does everything it can to become a positive part of the Wolfsburg sports community.

In a neighboring neighborhood, VfL Wolfsburg is showing how strong women's football is in the region. Last weekend, the club defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 5-0 in the Bundesliga top game and remains unbeaten after nine matchdays. Jill Roord shone with three goals and Ewa Pajor also scored on her 26th birthday. These successes are further proof that women's football in Wolfsburg is on the rise and offers a lot of potential. The atmosphere in the VW Arena in front of 14,027 spectators made the event a special celebration for football.

A look into the future

The coming season promises to be exciting, not only for the new club, but also for VfL Wolfsburg, who are well on their way to becoming Bundesliga record champions. With the next home game against SV Meppen on December 11th, the club has the chance to continue its impressive performance and bring female football even further into the spotlight. The strong community that is forming around women's football could be instrumental in further increasing interest and support for the United Wolfsburg Football Club and VfL Wolfsburg.

It now remains crucial for the United Wolfsburg Football Club to attract sponsors and advance the planned non-profit process in order to be able to issue donation receipts. With a clear goal in mind, the future of football in Wolfsburg is more than just promising.
