Habeck starts a new phase of his life: career planned in Denmark!

Robert Habeck, the former Federal Minister of Economics and Vice Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, is planning an exciting turn in his career. In the future he wants to work at the Danish Institute for International Studies in Copenhagen, as fr.de reports. At a time when he is withdrawing from the political stage, he would also like to teach as a visiting professor at various non-European universities and appear as a freelance speaker. The plans that he published in the Federal Gazette suggest that his experiences and insights will also be in demand internationally.

His language skills come in handy: Habeck speaks Danish fluently and spent time in Roskilde during his studies. This could make it easier for him to enter the academic world in Denmark. The federal government has raised no objections to his new plans, which further underlines his intentions in Copenhagen. According to the Federal Ministers Act, former ministers are theoretically prohibited from taking on new jobs if public interests are affected, but in Habeck's case there were no objections.

Political withdrawal and new paths

Habeck has decided to accept his Bundestag mandate for the Flensburg-Schleswig constituency after over 400,000 citizens called on him to do so. He had previously announced his withdrawal from the party leadership in June 2025, which was a reaction to political pressure after the Greens' weak election result of only 11.6 percent. There were also rumors about a possible guest lecturer at the US elite University of Berkeley, which underline his ambitions in international teaching.

In April, Habeck had originally planned to withdraw from the Bundestag during the summer break, which caused unrest in the Green party. To dispel these rumors, he became a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee - a move that demonstrated his political presence. From October he is planning a series of discussions entitled “Habeck live” at the Berliner Ensemble in order to continue to be present in the political discussion.

A look into Habeck's past

Born in Lübeck, he has been actively involved in Germany's political landscape since 2002 and was federal chairman of the Green Party together with Annalena Baerbock from 2018 to 2022. He has always campaigned for sustainable energy and the restructuring of the German energy system. His books, such as “The Decade of Decision: Germany 2030,” demonstrate a clear political focus on renewable energy and environmental protection, topics that have always been close to his heart.

Habeck's involvement in social media shows how important contact with the public is to him. There he regularly communicates with his followers and shares his thoughts on current challenges. Despite some criticism that focuses on his political style, for many he remains a role model for clear communication and ecological responsibility.

The coming months will undoubtedly be exciting for Robert Habeck and his new plans. In Denmark, he will provide insights into his political career and pass on his knowledge not only as a scientist, but also as a speaker and teacher.
