Major operation: Hazardous goods accident on A23 - fire brigade fights for safety!

What's happening in the far north? A lot, as the current reports show. The fire brigade is currently on a large scale at the Steinburg rest area on Autobahn 23. A truck leaked unknown fluid, which is why the parking lot had to be closed. Fortunately, the motorway itself remains passable, but the operation is expected to last until the evening, as reported by NDR, which also provides information about the current news in Schleswig-Holstein.

On other fronts, VfB Lübeck left the field with a 1-2 defeat against Altona 93 from the Regionalliga Nord. This defeat dropped Lübeck to 10th place in the table. On the other hand, Weiche Flensburg celebrated a narrow 3-2 victory over HSV II and has moved up into midfield with this success.

Traffic problems and construction sites

The traffic situation is not very encouraging: There are significant problems on the B77 due to a blocked truck. A tree had to be felled, so heavy transport was delayed until Monday at the earliest. There were also traffic jams in front of the Elbe tunnel and on the A7 that stretched for several kilometers.

Another topic is the Levensau High Bridge in Kiel. The cost-intensive construction method now requires an additional 127 million euros for the finishing work, which increases the total costs from the original 47 million to an incredible 215 million euros. The first Levensau high bridge, which was built in 1894, was repeatedly maintained, but it has now reached a technical lifespan. This is not least due to the fact that the Kiel Canal is the busiest artificial shipping route in the world.

The new waterway construction work is currently in full swing and traffic disruptions should be kept as short as possible. Pedestrian and cycle paths remain accessible via temporary bridges, but short-term closures of 5 to 10 minutes are possible. The North-Baltic Sea Canal Waterways Construction Authority has decided to prefer these short closures to the alternative of a two-week complete closure.

Weather and events

The weather forecast for today is at its best: a mix of sun and clouds with pleasant temperatures between 19 and 23 degrees gives hope that many will take the opportunity to go outside. And not to forget, the city of Pinneberg is celebrating a big anniversary. Various events and concerts are planned for the 150th anniversary, which are expected to attract up to 10,000 visitors.

Unfortunately, there were also negative headlines in the population scene: A young person in Kaltenkirchen was taken to hospital with a stab wound after a dispute between young people escalated. Fortunately, no other injuries are known.

Current events remind us once again how diverse the topics are in Schleswig-Holstein. From celebratory occasions to sporting results to critical traffic and safety issues - the north definitely has a lot to offer. Stay informed and take advantage of the beautiful days!
