Construction site chaos in Kiel: Where there are now closures!

In Kiel, there is a lot going on in terms of road construction and renovation measures. Today, on June 15, 2025, there are numerous construction sites that affect both drivers and pedestrians. The city administration has published the current measures on its website and you should keep your eyes open, because there is some important information about the construction sites that will run over the coming months.

Currently the old Levensauer Hochbrücke is locked up to the middle of this month. Drivers are diverted via the neighboring bridge of the B76. However, approval for the Kiel Week is already being planned. In the Eichenbergskamp, ​​on the other hand, we have to adjust to a full closure by June 27, 2025, since two rainwater connection lines are repaired here. However, pedestrians can pass, which minimizes the restriction for this group.

The Hasseer Straße is also fully locked until June 27, 2025. The reason: conversion and expansion between house numbers 78 to 100. A bike route is expanded on Flensburger Straße in Kiel-Wik, which also leads to a full closure until June 30th. This could be an improvement in particular for cyclists, but they have to be patient until then.

In Kiel-Gaarden-Ost there is a one-sided blocking of Preetzer Straße until the end of June 2025, as a branch of the ZIP daily clinic is created between house numbers 4 and 6. The Wörthstraße will also be fully blocked by July 4, 2025 to repair two wastewater connections. And that's not all - the Eggerstedtstraße/Wall in Kiel is also fully blocked in the direction of Schuhmacherstrasse until July 31, 2025 due to facade work on a corner building.

A significant construction site also awaits us in the Sören Street in Kiel-Ellerbek: work here until the beginning of August to move new district heating lines. The old Lübeck Chaussee even has a reduced bridge height until September 30, 2025. This measure is part of the renewal of the railway bridges and brings some cuts for road users. Currently only one lane is available, regulated by a traffic light system.

Another project in Kiel-Wik is the exchange of a medium-voltage system, which also leads to a full closure until September 30, 2025. The work on the sewers and the renovation of the road will probably continue in Hassee by the end of November 2025. This could lead to continuing restrictions for some residents and road users!

What else is coming?

The central construction site planning for 2025 also includes a greening and exchange of bus stops at Kiel Central Station between April and June. From July 2025, it will be right to the matter with the complete renovation of the Westring and the renewal of the road cover on Stresemannplatz.
