Kiel Winter Aid: Fundraising campaign starts for people in need!
The “Winter Aid” fundraising campaign for people in need is taking place again in Kiel. This important initiative, which was launched by Kiel-Marketing, starts on December 1st, 2025 and runs until February 28th, 2026. Donations can now be dropped off at the Welcome Center Kieler Förde on Stresemannplatz. The initiative has set itself the task of giving a helping hand to people in need and not forgetting their four-legged companions Kiel life reported.
We are looking for long-lasting donations, from candy to hygiene products to warm blankets and treats for pets. The donations needed are varied, including shower gel, toothpaste, foot and hand warmers and drink packs. Vouchers or coupons are also very appreciated. However, cash, perishable food and clothing are excluded from the promotion. This ensures that the help is used in a targeted and efficient manner.
Opening hours and drop-off of donations
Donations are made under a clear time frame: Monday to Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. On the Advent Saturdays, which take place on December 6th, 13th and 20th, 2025, the Welcome Center is even open until 6:00 p.m. To ensure that all donations are well received, they should ideally be delivered in open boxes, such as shoe boxes. The packages are distributed by trained volunteers who are proud to make a contribution and help those in need during this cold season.
In recent years, the campaign has distributed over 1,500 donation packages containing warm blankets, hygiene products and small treats. Additionally, Johanniter-Kältehilfe provides support In Germany, homeless people and people in need of help in the winter months to protect them from death from the cold. Even though emergency shelters have been expanded, the situation in many cities remains tense.
Cold help for everyone
It is estimated that around 500,000 people live in Germany without a permanent home. It doesn't take much to help: volunteers distribute warm soups, hot drinks, blankets and winter clothing. These initiatives are active in many cities such as Berlin, Hanover and Bremen and do valuable work. They highlight the need to further expand cold relief, especially in the winter months when temperatures drop sharply.
