Train cancellations in November: Commuters in Schleswig-Holstein have to reschedule!

What's coming up in November? There is exciting news for all rail travelers in Schleswig-Holstein. As ndr.de reports, there are several train cancellations, rail replacement services and timetable changes at Deutsche Bahn, Erixx and Nordbahn this month. The reason for this is extensive construction work in which tracks, switches and overhead lines are being replaced. Commuters have to be prepared for cancellations, delays and diversions, especially at night.

The affected routes are diverse:

  • Deutsche Bahn:
    • Lübeck – Bad Kleinen – Schwerin – Rostock (RE1/RE2): Ausfälle in der Nacht vom 5. auf 6. November von 21:30 bis 5 Uhr, Ersatzverkehr mit Bussen.
    • Hamburg Hbf – Lübeck (RE8/RE80) und Hamburg Hbf – Bad Oldesloe (RB81): Ausfälle zwischen 24. Oktober und 10. November, insbesondere abends und nachts.
    • Hamburg-Altona – Westerland/Sylt (RE6): Ausfälle zwischen 26. August und 9. November sowie vom 14. bis 16. November.
    • Hamburg Hbf – Flensburg / Kiel Hbf (RE7): Ausfälle vom 30. Oktober bis 4. November sowie am 5., 6. und 8. November.
    • Itzehoe – Heide / Husum (RB62): Ausfälle am 9. November, Ersatzverkehr mit Bussen.
    • Generalsanierung der Strecke Hamburg – Büchen – Berlin: Vollständige Sperrung bis 30. April 2026.
  • Nordbahn:
    • Büsum – Heide – Neumünster (RB63): Ausfälle in der Nacht vom 2. auf 3. November und vom 9. bis 17. November.
    • Husum – Bad St. Peter-Ording (RB64): Ausfälle in der Nacht vom 7. auf 8. November.
    • Kiel – Schleibrücke (RE72/RB73): Ausfälle vom 31. Oktober bis 4. November und vom 18. bis 21. November.
    • Kiel – Schleswig – Husum (RE74) / Kiel – Rendsburg (RB75): Ausfälle bis 30. November.
  • Erixx:
    • Kiel – Lübeck – Lüneburg (RE83): Einschränkungen bis 30. April 2026.
    • Kiel – Lübeck (RB84) und Kiel – Oppendorf (RB76): Ausfälle vom 30. Oktober bis 4. November.

Passengers are asked to check the timetables before starting their journey and to look at the information on the websites of the respective railway companies. This way you can avoid the risk of missed moves!

Use for transport infrastructure

The extensive renovation work is essential to ensure safety and efficiency in rail traffic. Travelers can be curious to see how the situation will develop in the coming weeks. Nevertheless, there is no denying the dissatisfaction with the diversions and the inconveniences they cause - especially for commuters who rely on the train every day.

A few kilometers further in the media world, another appearance is causing a stir: As part of a live broadcast, Fox News abruptly removed former President Donald Trump from its program in order to switch to Greg Gutfeld's late-night show. Gutfeld was then able to greet Trump live, who was reacting to Vice President Kamala Harris' previous appearance. The conversational break drew some laughs as Trump offered his opinion on the political situation, while Gutfeld cautioned not to stir up controversy. This shows that there is always something going on in the world of news - and the audience can expect an exciting mix of information and entertainment.

Whether on the tracks in northern Germany or in living rooms watching TV – the coming weeks will remain interesting. It remains to be seen how travelers and spectators will deal with the upcoming changes.
