Wanted sex offender: Lübeck police are asking for information!

An explosive manhunt is worrying the region: Christo Stoyanov, a 44-year-old IT entrepreneur from Lübeck, has been on the run since his conviction in July 2023 for serious sexual abuse of a child. The convicted criminal was sentenced to five years in prison, but did not serve the sentence and was deported abroad. According to investigators, Stoyanov may currently be living in Dubai, where he conducts his business, including Bitcoin mining. But these are not the only clues the police have - he may also be in Germany on business.

Stoyanov, who is described as having black hair, glasses and being around 1.70 meters tall, was working as a volunteer carer at a social club when the disaster began. Between 2010 and 2013 he abused a child in care. This happened under a cloak of trust, which makes the case all the more tragic. The Lübeck public prosecutor's office and the police department have now issued an international arrest warrant against him and are asking the public for help. Information can be forwarded to the police on 0451-1310. Particularly explosive: The case will be presented on October 8, 2025 in the ZDF program “Aktenzeichen XY… unsolved”.

Information about the search

Authorities are concerned about Stoyanov's escape and the possibility that he may be using aliases to conceal his identity. This makes finding him much more difficult. The police suspect that he may also have business relationships in Germany. The gangster, who is currently operating in the shadows, could be brought back into the light by attentive citizens. Stoyanov is described as stocky to chubby and has a round face, which could make him stand out to civilians.

The exact circumstances that led to his escape are still unclear. He was sentenced on July 3, 2023 and did not appear to begin prison. He had previously fled to Bulgaria after the verdict before traveling to Dubai, where he is believed to be. The ZDF broadcast could be the decisive turning point in this case and the investigators hope that valuable information will emerge from the public.

The shadows of crime

The Stoyanov case also sheds light on a general problem occurring in society. According to current statistics, crime in the EU should not be underestimated, and sexual assaults on children in particular are among the most painful issues affecting our community. Such incidents drive a gap between trust and distrust in communities and clubs, and the Stoyanov case clearly shows that we must be vigilant.

It remains to be hoped that Stoyanov will be found quickly and that the children affected will receive justice. The call for help is clear - attentive citizens could provide crucial information for the arrest of the wanted person. Therefore, it is not only the duty of the police but also of society to keep an eye open.
