Haus & Grund Lübeck donates 10,000 euros to maintain the 7 towers!

An important step towards preserving the cultural heritage in Lübeck: On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of Haus & Grund Lübeck, a donation check for 10,000 euros was presented to the 7Türme+ Foundation today. This celebratory moment took place during the annual general meeting in the media docks and brought together the key figures of the association and the foundation. Frank Schumacher, the chairman of Haus & Grund, Jens Becker, his deputy, and managing director Sascha Sebastian Färber handed over the check to Annegret Röther and Heike Schumacher, members of the foundation's management team, as well as to the project officer Heike Reimann.

The generous donation is the result of numerous events and fundraising campaigns that were carried out in the anniversary year 2024 under the motto “Help preserve Lübeck’s cultural heritage”. A variety of exploration tours through Lübeck's historical sites formed the framework for Haus & Grund's commitment. “We have a responsibility for our cultural heritage,” emphasized Färber, while Schumacher emphasized the importance of the seven towers that make up Lübeck’s defining cityscape. The 7Türme+ Foundation expressed its gratitude for the support, which will be used to renovate the city's landmarks.

Commitment to Lübeck's future

Lübeck is not only a city full of history, it is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and should not be left to decay. The former Federal President has taken over the patronage of the 7Türme+ Foundation, which underlines the importance of this commitment. He emphasizes that responsibility for cultural heritage lies in the hands of individuals, foundations and political actors. This collective responsibility is a central aspect of a functioning democracy that wants to leave testimonies of strength and will to future generations.

Given the cultural depth that Lübeck has to offer, it is important to actively work to preserve these treasures. The celebrations to promote Lübeck's heritage have a clear impact and strengthen community cohesion.

A look at Caspar David Friedrich

Exciting cultural events in Lübeck are also dedicated to the famous painter Caspar David Friedrich. To mark his 250th birthday, outstanding exhibitions will be held in several cities, including Hamburg and Dresden. The Hamburger Kunsthalle is showing one of his key works, “The Sea of Ice” (1823/24), which is presented in the current exhibition “Art for a New Time”. This presentation of Friedrich's work enables a dialogic approach to contemporary positions and offers a fresh look at his art.

Various aspects of his life and work are also illuminated in the Pomeranian State Museum and the Dresden State Art Collections. A special highlight is the joint acquisition of the “Karlsruhe Sketchbook”, which contains important study drawings by Friedrich and is therefore of great art historical relevance. Such projects not only contribute to the promotion of art, but also strengthen the cultural identity of the region.

In Lübeck, where the historical heritage and culture complement each other wonderfully, it is once again evident that committed citizens and institutions such as Haus & Grund Lübeck and the 7Türme+ Foundation are setting standards for a vibrant future in harmony with history.
