Lübeck in AI fever: Artificial Intelligence Week starts today!

From November 10th to 15th, Lübeck will be transformed into the vibrant center of northern German artificial intelligence. During the Week of Artificial Intelligence, which offers a wide range of events, not only is curiosity about new technologies aroused, but also the exchange between science, business, education and society is promoted. Over 20 events from 13 different organizers are on the program, including exciting lectures, hands-on stations, workshops and discussion formats. During this week, visitors can gain deeper insights into the research and application of artificial intelligence. There is a lot to discover at various locations in Lübeck, including the Media Docks and the transition house. A special highlight is the workshop on the use of chatbots in companies, which kicks off. The event “Newtrition X – Future Food powered by AI” will also highlight the importance of AI in the food industry, a topic that is becoming increasingly important.

The North German Future Prize: An award for innovation

But what would a week like this be without the recognition of outstanding achievements? The North German Future Prize for Artificial Intelligence, which will be awarded on November 12th, honors particularly innovative contributions from the region. The prize is donated by Axel Junge, the owner of Junge GmbH, and is endowed with 10,000 euros. The award aims to recognize the achievements of people from science and business as well as to promote the transfer of innovative AI technologies into the market. ZKIL emphasizes that the jury consists of personalities from different areas who select the winners independently - it is not possible to apply.

The first award ceremony took place in 2021 and since then numerous outstanding scientists have won the prize, such as Dr.-Ing. Andrea Schenk from the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Medicine MEVIS, who was honored for her achievements in medical data processing. Currently, Prof. Dr. phil. Annina Neumann was honored, whose research is particularly dedicated to the social relevance of AI.

Artificial Intelligence Week not only contributes to education and awareness about technologies, but also enables exchanges about the associated opportunities and risks.
