Lübeck Christmas market: Mulled wine price remains stable at 4 euros!
The Christmas market in Lübeck is just around the corner and not only brings a festive atmosphere, but also clear announcements about the prices. The market will open on November 24, 2025, and one thing is certain: the prices for mulled wine will remain stable and will be four euros this year too. Patrick Lauenburger from the Showmen's Association announced this after he suspended the necessary but unwelcome price increases due to inflation. Visitors can therefore look forward to an unchanged price level for hot drinks, in contrast to many other Christmas markets in Germany.
What about the food? Here too it remains the same. As in the previous year, bratwursts cost 4.50 euros and 100 grams of roasted almonds are also available for four euros. The market operators have a good hand in trying not to spoil the festive mood with exorbitant prices. “We want everyone to be able to afford a piece of the Christmas market,” continued Lauenburger.
A look across the borders to Munich
While Lübeck shines with attractive prices, Munich has a variety of Christmas markets and a very special flair. The famous Christmas market on Marienplatz also opens on November 24th and attracts visitors with a historical ambience and one of the largest nativity scenes in Germany. In addition to mulled wine and numerous delicacies, there will also be creative workshops for children and traditional music from Bavaria.
In Munich the offering is even more extensive: from the Viktualienmarkt, which is open from November 21, 2025 to January 5, 2026, to the Christmas market at the Residenz with craft stalls and puppet shows. This diversity not only appeals to the hearts of the locals, but also attracts many tourists to the Bavarian capital.
Price trends for mulled wine and more
Overall, the price of mulled wine is a hot topic in Germany. Many cities, like Lübeck, have very stable prices, which is particularly beneficial for the culinary traditions of the Christmas season. According to an extensive study of mulled wine prices in 2024, the cheapest ones are in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, where you can spend from three euros per cup. Prices in Dortmund and Braunschweig have also been stable at 3.50 euros for years.
In addition, a mulled wine price index has been established that tracks price trends at over 2,500 Christmas markets in Germany. Clear differences can be seen; While prices of up to five euros can be found in large cities such as Cologne or Berlin, smaller places can often offer cheaper alternatives.
Whether in Lübeck or Munich, the Christmas markets invite you to enjoy the unique atmosphere of the Christmas season. With fair prices and a variety of offers, both locals and tourists are warmly welcomed to get in the mood for the festive season.
