New artists conquer Lübeck: opening on August 30th!
A lot is happening in the field of art in Lübeck! On August 30, 2025, art lovers can look forward to an exciting opening at the Artler, where the Lübeck artist community will welcome two new members. From 5 p.m. everything will be under the sign of creativity, when the works of Rainer Michel and Ruzanna Davitian will be presented. These new talents bring a breath of fresh air to the Lübeck art scene, as hl-live.de reports.
Rainer Michel fascinates with his paper cutting techniques, which he combines with physical elements. In times of increasing virtualization, he manages to create impressive three-dimensional images through silhouettes and flat projections. And Ruzanna Davitian also has it: she uses collage as a means of reflection and invites individual interpretations and emotional resonances with her image fragments. An absolute must for anyone who loves art!
Remembering deserving artists
As new talent blossoms, we also think about those who have left us. The Lübeck artists' community remembers the two important artists Erich Lethgau and Gerhard Backschat, who died on September 11, 2020 and October 30, 2020. Both have had a lasting impact on the cities of Lübeck and Kiel. Gerhard Backschat, known for his modesty and determination, was accepted into the Association of Painters and Sculptors in 1972/73 and played a central role in many art projects, especially in public spaces. His developments in color theory and his teaching activities at the Kiel University of Applied Sciences are still legendary today.
Erich Lethgau also leaves behind an impressive legacy. His path led him from the HfbK Hamburg to freelance art, where he not only created reliefs and screen prints, but also realized numerous sculptural objects and memorials. At the same time, he was a color consultant for school and administrative buildings. The obituary by Rainer Wiedemann, the first chairman of the Lübeck Artists Association, honors both artists as “the twins” of the Lübeck art scene.
Art as a community project
Another exciting place in Lübeck is the Kunsttankstelle, a creative center that was founded by the Defacto Art e.V. association. This initiative shows how important art and culture are for the common good. The Kunsttankstelle may still need support in order to realize future projects. The entire association appeals to the citizens so that the creative spark in Lübeck never goes out, as defacto-art.org emphasizes.
The finissage of the current exhibition at Artler will take place on September 27, 2025. Anyone who is interested in art or simply wants to experience an inspiring evening should not miss this event. Further information can be found on the Website of the Lübeck Artists Community.
