CDU Neumünster looks optimistically: elections, projects and new ideas!

The CDU district party conference took place in Neumünster on October 28, 2025. The participants did not miss the opportunity to commemorate the deceased party friends with a short opening speech. Herbert Möller, who welcomed the 56 voting members and guests via audio message, set a dignified tone right at the beginning. The meeting was chaired by Rixa Kleinschmit, member of the state parliament from Rendsburg-Eckernförde, who led through the program.

A highlight of the party conference was the guest lecture by Prof. Dr. Carlo Masala, who spoke about “Security in times of threat from Russia”. The members had the opportunity to ask him questions and engage in a lively dialogue. Some substantive proposals also found their way to the vote, including the adjustment of the contribution and fee schedule, which was passed unanimously.

Successes and challenges

District chairman Hauke Hansen looked back optimistically on the past year and highlighted the excellent result of the people of Neumünster in the federal election. “We achieved the best result of the independent cities, both for first and second votes,” said Hansen happily. The CDU now plans to continue to be active in public with various events, such as punch and waffles for a good cause or a strawberry festival.

But not everything goes according to plan. Hansen particularly criticized the current mayor for delays in important projects and announced that the search for a suitable candidate for the next mayoral election in 2027 has already begun. In addition, a fundamental revision of the local election program is pending in order to set the course for the coming challenges.

Commitment to the future

The record participation of the Junge Union Neumünster at the last district association day was particularly pleasing. The two proposals submitted by the Junge Union were also approved. Arne Rüstemeier reported on the council group's cooperation with the political partners from the SPD and FDP and the constant commitment to moving the city forward. Herbert Möller also received unanimous support for an application for honorary citizenship.

There are also financial challenges for Neumünster: the city budget has a deficit of 60 million euros, which has been reduced from 70 million euros previously. The CDU is committed to reactivating the Rantzau barracks in order to strengthen the local infrastructure. In a comprehensive process, responsibilities for various areas within the party's work were also distributed.

With the election of delegates to draw up the state list for the 2027 state elections, the party conference also gave a clear outlook on the next steps. At the end of the meeting, Hansen thanked everyone present and closed the meeting with an appeal to work together on a continued successful future.

The CDU faces many tasks, not only in Neumünster, but also at the state and federal level. As the cdu.de explains, a central challenge is to advance Germany as a strong economy with a large number of family businesses and innovative founders. Given the persistently high energy prices and the need to simplify bureaucratic processes, it is necessary to move into the future with a clear strategy.

All in all, the CDU Neumünster district party conference shows that the members not only draw a positive balance, but also want to accept and actively address the challenges of politics - in the spirit of a strong, future-oriented democracy.
