Norden Festival 2025: Cultural highlights and creative adventures in August!

Things will be colorful and lively again in Schleswig this summer at the NORDEN – The Nordic Arts Festival, which will take place from August 28th to September 7th, 2025. With a view of the picturesque Schlei, there will be numerous events again this year that will make the hearts of art and culture enthusiasts beat faster. The festival, which has established itself as one of the most important cultural events in Northern Europe, focuses on music, literature, street theater, art and innovative workshops.

What can visitors expect this year? The first days of the festival start with a great atmosphere and a series of top-class performances. The well-known band Selig will take the stage on August 30th, while Lara Hulo will cause excitement on the Schleibühne on August 29th. The Swedish band Sunnan and the duo “Moop Mama x Älice” can be seen on September 6th. Every day between three and five bands on two stages entertain visitors with their music, including artists from Scandinavia, the Baltic States, Poland, Iceland, the Netherlands and northern Germany, such as Baby Did A Bad Thing and D/troit.

Light art and sustainability

A special highlight will be the light art festival “NORDEN Lights”, which will transform the festival grounds into a magical spectacle in the evenings. A 15 meter long light tunnel becomes the central attraction and amazes visitors. Sustainability is also a top priority: the festival promotes regionality, recycling and environmentally conscious use of resources, thereby setting new standards in event culture.

But that's not all! The fascinating offerings include almost 50 workshops that encourage active participation. Whether it's making flower wreaths or learning sign language interpreting - there's something for everyone here. Special attention is also paid to the Estonian attraction “Kiiking”, a rollover swing, which is being held this year.

Family-friendly offer

The festival is advertised as family friendly and the options for creating a thoroughly enjoyable day are varied. In the culture tent there are readings by renowned writers from Northern Europe, such as Simone Mischke. If you're feeling peckish every now and then, there are numerous culinary delicacies available, which also use regional products.

Day tickets are available for 25 euros on Saturday and 19 euros on other days, with discounts and family tickets available. The festival passes for all eight days are particularly popular, but they are almost sold out. Family passes cost 198 euros and allow you to enjoy the cultural delicacies together.

If you want to travel by public transport, you can use the city buses from Schleswig train station, which is only three kilometers away. Important information for drivers: the parking garage on Schwarzen Weg closes at 10:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays.

The NORDEN Festival also promises an exciting program in 2025 with artistic highlights, cultural discoveries and unforgettable experiences in a beautifully located environment. The countdown is on and the anticipation is increasing!
