Großstadtrevier conquers the stage: premiere with an emotional dedication!

Today a very special piece premiered in Hamburg's St. Pauli Theater: “A piece of the metropolitan area”. This theatumentary, a mixture of comedy, chamber drama and real madness, keeps the audience on the edge of their seats and is sensitively dedicated to the late actress Wanda Perdelwitz, who was known as police officer Nina Sieveking in the popular series “Großstadtrevier”. The news of her tragic death after a bicycle accident in Hamburg-Rotherbaum shocked the entire theater world. Perdelwitz died on September 28th at the age of 41 after a dooring accident and leaves a great legacy on the ARD early evening series, in which she appeared for almost ten years before leaving in 2022.

The premiere took place on October 9, 2025 and gave the actors the opportunity to show themselves on stage while reflecting on their experiences from filming. Director Ulrich Waller, who was initially skeptical about the concept, praised the ensemble's acting potential and it quickly became clear that every actor also brought a dose of authenticity. “A challenge for all of us to keep the tension longer than in the TV series,” noted Patrick Abozen, who already has theater experience.

The talents on stage

There are also some new faces: Maria Ketikidou and Farina Flebbe are on a theater stage for the first time. During rehearsals in a small room before the big premiere, expectations were high. Director Guntbert Warns was also optimistic about how the rehearsals were going. Enrique Fiß (Nils Sanchez) and Sven Fricke can hardly believe how the production has developed and speak of an exciting dynamic among the actors.

The piece tells of a failed photo shoot in which the actors are locked in a masked van, which creates a special comedy in the serious and chaotic world of the “big city district”. The series, which has revolved around the police series at Davidwache on the Reeperbahn since 1986, continues to offer fascinating insights into urban life in Hamburg.

A look into Hamburg's theater scene

Hamburg has a long tradition of theater culture that dates back to the 18th century. The Hamburg State Library has a comprehensive theater collection, which includes impressive holdings of cast sheets, programs and stage design designs. These documents and collections are a valuable treasure for all theater lovers and a testimony to the rich stage culture of the Hanseatic city.

The St. Pauli Theater is firmly connected to Hamburg's theater landscape and offers not only classics, but also modern interpretations that reflect contemporary life. The performances of “A Piece of the Großstadtrevier” are planned until November 16, 2025 and promise to captivate the audience.

For anyone who wants to immerse themselves in Hamburg's theater culture, this is a special event that keeps the memories of Wanda Perdelwitz alive and at the same time is an example of how powerfully community and art can merge.
