The TV series " Practice with sea view " has been delighting a wide audience since 2017. The story follows Nora Kaminski, a former cruise ship doctor, who dares to make a new start on the picturesque Baltic Sea island of Rügen. In the coming season, which will feature four new episodes in spring 2025, the setting of Rügen will continue to shape the plot. The season finale of the last round, "Romeo & Juliet", was broadcast on May 2nd, 2025.
The new episodes were filmed between August and October 2024 against the impressive backdrop of Germany's largest island. Rügen offers a variety of dreamlike locations that not only make up the aesthetic appeal of the series, but also take up a significant part of the narrative. Important locations include the port city of Sassnitz, the popular Binz and the charming city of Bergen.
The filming locations in detail
The “Joint Practice Dr. Freese & Nora Kaminski”, the heart of the series, has two filming locations. The exterior shots take place at Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 6 in Sassnitz, while the interior shots are filmed in a holiday apartment at the neighboring house number 4. The hospital in which the protagonists often act is located in Bergen, although some exterior shots were also taken in the West Hospital in Stralsund.
A particularly interesting detail: Peer's luxurious apartment, Nora's ex-husband, is filmed in Prora. This historic property, which was originally built in the 1930s, is now very popular as a holiday home thanks to its attractive conversion into modern holiday apartments. Prora is known for its beautiful sandy beaches and impressive architecture that is reminiscent of the town's history.
Curiosities and reality
The series is known not only for its dramatic stories, but also for some small oddities. One such example is the often unrealistic representation of distances between locations. For example, a bicycle ride from Ralswiek to Sassnitz is shown, which in reality is almost 20 kilometers, while the series shortens this significantly. This makes many viewers smile and surprises.
