In the early evening hours of November 12th, a devastating fire broke out in a semi-detached house in Jatznick, Vorpommern-Greifswald district. According to the Baltic Sea newspaper The three residents of the house - 40, 51 and 75 years old - were able to escape from the building in time. A 69-year-old couple who lived in the other half of the house were also safe. Unfortunately, a dog died in the fire and could not be saved.
The fire department was quickly on site, and a total of 68 emergency services with 15 vehicles from various volunteer fire departments in the area were involved. Federal highway 109 had to be closed until around 11 p.m. to make access easier for emergency services. The cause of the fire is currently unknown. Fire investigators and the criminal police have already started their investigations. The material damage amounts to around 150,000 euros and the semi-detached house is now uninhabitable.
