Bull chaos in Prenzlau: four hours of action for the police!
An amusing and at the same time worrying incident occurred last Saturday morning in the Prenzlau area. Three free-roaming cattle, more precisely bulls of the Harzer Rotes Höhenvieh breed, made the rounds between Prenzlau and Brüssow and caused quite a stir. As nordkurier.de reports, a four-hour police operation was necessary to secure the animals.
The cattle were originally reported on Highway 26, but initially no one really knew where they were. The police later received information that the cops had been discovered near the Stralsund-Berlin railway line, which made the situation even more dangerous. In order to avoid possible dangers to road and rail traffic, warning messages were issued.
The use of the police
Thanks to an experienced animal owner, the three cattle were finally able to be led to the somewhat quieter “Sonneneck” garden area. Garden owners observed the animals and kept an eye on the situation while the police actively brought the situation under control. In close consultation with an official veterinarian, it was ensured that the bulls could be picked up safely. By the evening, the owner of the cattle, who was missing the animals from Schmölln, had reported to the police. As moz.de notes, the owner had clearly lost his nerve by the long flight of his bulls.
According to the Uckermark inspection, the police operation was uncomplicated and there was no damage or special incidents. This incident shows how quickly animals can migrate and how important it is to react quickly to avoid danger.
Animal welfare and safety
Children and pets sometimes watch with wide eyes when cattle stand on the road. While a free-roaming animal often causes one or two moments of shock, there are direct ways to act correctly in such situations or worse. If you have problems with animals, the Tierschutzbund recommends contacting the local authorities or animal protection organizations immediately in order to get help quickly, as can be found on tierschutzbund.de.
In this sense, the return of the bulls to the care of their owners is a good example of the importance of good neighbors and quick action. Whether in rural areas or cities – animal welfare and safety are issues that affect us all. And as this incident shows, sometimes they can get pretty exciting!
