Schwerin shines: Christmas market delights with lights and attractions!
The Christmas magic in Schwerin has begun! Today, November 24th, 2025, the Christmas market officially opened its doors shortly after 4 p.m. The historic old town of Schwerin shines in festive splendor. With fairy lights winding through the streets, the market attracts visitors who enjoy the pre-Christmas atmosphere with mulled wine, hats and chestnuts. Matthias from Krebsförden visited the market and was enthusiastic about what was on offer: “I meet up with old colleagues here, there’s something going on!”.
A highlight of the opening ceremony was the parade from the south bank of the Pfaffenteich to the market square. Among the happy spectators were many children who waved to Santa Claus. With characters like Mrs. Holle and Olaf from Frozen, stilt walkers caused amazement and joy. In the evening, the flow of visitors moves to the Pfaffenteich, where a Ferris wheel lights up and an ice rink ensures happy laughter. The children try out gliding on the ice and enjoy carefree moments with lots of laughter.
Opening times and attractions
