School buses in Ludwigslust-Parchim: Learning and swimming at a bargain price!
In the Ludwigslust-Parchim region, the schools came up with something to enable their students to experience exciting learning experiences outside the classroom. As the Nordkurier reports 75 out of 82 schools. For only 10 cents per person and kilometers, students can go on the adventure outside of the school walls.
Particular attention is paid to swimming lessons: 39% of the trips lead to swimming pools. A goal that is not too negligible, after all, the habituation of water is part of the important basic training for children. But that's not all: extra -curricular learning experiences on scientific educational institutions such as the Phantertechnikum or the Schwerin Zoo are also very popular. Together, these make up 28% of the trips. In addition, in 2024, impressive 39 trips were handled free of charge from 55 trips to places of democratic will formation.
political education and democratic roots
In December 2023, the district council had made a decisive decision: schools can now take trips to places of democratic will formation free of charge. This initiative should give the students a feeling for democracy and commitment. Whether to the state parliament or a dunning and memorials such as the old synagogue in Hagenow, the thought behind it is clear: the experience of democracy should be made tangible.
The need for political education was also discussed at an eastern summit of the state school students. There, among other things, the strengthening of extremist groups and how to deal with young people with political issues were discussed. The State student representative therefore calls for political education in schools. Here, the demands range from an increase in the number of hours in political education, to creative approaches such as business games and debates.
media education and social responsibility
Another focus is on media education. At a time when social media play a central role in political will formation, it is essential that students acquire a solid foundation in media literacy. The student representatives call for regular training for teachers in order to ensure a consistently high quality in education.
It shows that the schools in Ludwigslust-Parchim already have a good hand when it comes to creating learning opportunities that offer both education and fun. The close interlinking of political education with practical experience could also be crucial to form the future generation into responsible citizens. And this is not only desirable, but urgently necessary so that democracy remains alive.
