New fire engine for Malchin: joy and space problems at the same time!
There is reason to be happy in Malchin: The fire department has received a new emergency fire engine (HLF 20), which was recently ceremoniously presented in the fire department. The transfer of the modern vehicle from the renowned Rosenbauer company in Luckenwalde went quickly and without complications. This new HLF 20 marks an important step in the equipment of the Malchin fire department, as it replaces the outdated LF 16/12 fire engine, which dates back to the 1990s. Loud Northern Courier The new vehicle is equipped with a generous tank volume of 2100 liters of water and offers great flexibility in use, whether in the event of fires, traffic accidents or technical assistance.
Mayor Axel Müller was pleased to receive the modern fire engine. The city of Malchin will receive a special needs allocation of 170,000 euros from the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which will significantly increase the financial value of the project. In total, the costs for the HLF 20 amount to an impressive 510,000 euros, with the financing being provided equally by the state, the Mecklenburg Lake District and the city of Malchin. This will upgrade the fire department in Malchin and allow it to better fulfill its diverse role as a focal fire department, which is also in demand nationally and for special operations Müritz portal reported.
Space problems in the old tool shed
But not everything is rosy: the old tool shed presents a challenge because the new HLF 20 does not fit into it without modifications. Parts of the extraction pipes had to be adjusted and the overhead ladders had to be folded down. The capacity of the old house is not sufficient to meet the new standards and this creates additional organizational work for the firefighters. In order to address the lack of space, the city is planning to build a new modern fire station for over nine million euros. The new building is to be built directly on the site of the old equipment shed on Poststrasse.
For Mayor Müller, the planning is already well advanced: the detailed documents are to be sent to the Ministry of the Interior in September in order to apply for funding for the new building. However, the demolition of the old house and the construction of the new fire station depend on the approval of the funding. The city is optimistic about the coming years and has the goal of completing the new building by 2029/30. Since the fire department technology has to go somewhere during the construction phase, the city is considering renting lightweight construction halls on the outdoor area of the Schnepf hardware store, because storing the fire engines outside is absolutely not an option.
The first training unit with the new HLF 20 took place on the evening of the vehicle presentation. This means that the firefighters can quickly get used to the new conditions and are ready to make optimal use of the new vehicle's versatile application options. The HLF 20, with its comprehensive equipment - including a respiratory protection monitoring system, rescue spreader, rescue scissors and other accessories - will certainly play a central role in the future work of the Malchin fire department, as well as the Walser group describes.
