Cycling heat on the lagoon: Over 100 riders fight for victory!

The “Rad am Haff” event was held for the seventh time on June 21, 2025 in the picturesque surroundings of the lagoon. Over a hundred enthusiastic cyclists, exactly 115 in number, followed the call to test their strength on two different routes. The event began at 10 a.m. in Mönkebude, where the starting signal was fired and the participants began their race. Northern Courier reports that the route led from Mönkebude via Torgelow to Ahlbeck and on to Luckow to Vogelsang.

The participants had the choice between a 75-kilometer route, which led via Ahlbeck back to Mönkebude, or a challenging 95-kilometer route, where they could even drive to Altwarp. The sprint classification between Hintersee and Ahlbeck posed a special challenge, which the cyclists were happy about. NDR highlights that the road between Hintersee and Ahlbeck was closed late in the morning to ensure the safety of the participants.

A celebration for everyone

The event not only attracted athletes but also encouraged the local community to participate. In the evening, the “Rock Project Torgelow” rocked on stage and gave the summer festival an additional boost. Organizer Christoph Bade, who was satisfied with how the event went, praised the atmosphere and the solidarity between the participants and the local residents. Northern Courier reported that the festival also offered local residents a great opportunity to experience the cyclists and their passion up close.

During the race, the athletes competed in the sprint competition over ten kilometers. Tim Pomorin took the win, followed by Marcel Kingel and Daniel Korth, who also showed impressive performances. Northern Courier emphasizes that such rivalries make the event special and strongly promote cycling enthusiasm in the region.

A look into the future

The next edition of “Rad am Haff” has already been scheduled for June 21, 2025. The organizers around Christoph Bade are already looking forward to the next edition and hope that even more cyclists and fans will get excited about the region. A timely note to all drivers in the region: Special caution is required on the day of the event. The roads between Mönkebude, Torgelow, Altwarp and Hintersee will continue to be a hotspot for cyclists in the future, and a good knack for dealing with the diverse traffic situations is required. NDR knows to report that these events not only strengthen cycling, but also the community around the lagoon.
