Neubrandenburger Straße in Rostock: Finally open to traffic again!

In Rostock, Neubrandenburger Strasse will soon shine in new splendor, because after months of construction work, the street will be opened to traffic on Friday, November 7th, during the afternoon. The first vehicles are expected to be able to drive on the new road around 4 p.m. That's how he reports Northern Courier.

Neubrandenburger Straße is an important connection between Rostock and the Rostock district. This construction work, which began in February 2025, extends to an approximately 220 meter long section south of the level crossing. As part of the renovation, the old road surface made of various natural stones was replaced with asphalt. In addition, safe connections to the existing cycle paths were created, and new bus stops were built on both sides of the street.

Construction work and diversions

Despite the road opening soon, road users have to be prepared for some disruptions. In the area south of the Kassenbohm-Kiesgrube confluence, partial restrictions are still to be expected during the day. In addition, he had NDR reports that diversions for pedestrians and cyclists will be necessary from Wednesday. These lead over Kassenbohmer Weg and a sidewalk that runs parallel to the railway system.

While the diversion route comes into effect from 7:30 a.m., there are existing detours for traffic traveling into the city. However, one lane remains open out of town to keep traffic flowing.

Public transport

From Saturday, November 8th, Rebus will resume regular bus services on Neubrandenburger Straße. The previously set up replacement stop on Fritz-Mackensen-Weg has been eliminated and the buses can run their usual routes again. This brings a noticeable improvement in quality of life for many commuters, as the usual connections are now available again.

Overall, the city of Rostock is optimistic that the construction work will be completed on time. The infrastructural improvements are an important step to promote mobility in the region. This will not only make Neubrandenburger Straße safer, but also more comfortable for all road users.
