Rostocker FC celebrates 130 years full of passion and tradition!
The Rostock Football Club (RFC) is in top form and is proudly celebrating its 130th anniversary. The anniversary will be celebrated in style on June 20, 2025, exactly 130 years after its founding in 1895. The celebrations are promising and promise a colorful festival for the entire region. Right at the beginning, on Friday, the club's own restaurant comes into the spotlight, where a celebratory hour takes place with prominent guests such as Sports Minister Stefanie Drese (SPD) and President Heinrich Prophet (CDU).
On the following Saturday things really get going: there are numerous activities on the program at the sports field on Damerower Weg. The youngest soccer talents can demonstrate their skills at several youth tournaments. For adult fans there is the Rostock Pils Cup, in which five teams will take part. A very special highlight is the oldies game, in which the traditional RFC team will compete against a Hansa team supported by football legend Heiko März.
Activities and Attractions
The anniversary celebration not only attracts with sporting competitions. An autograph session with two current Hansa Rostock players and numerous play stations such as a soccer court and a bouncy castle make the festival a pleasure for young and old. The presentation of Rostocker FC's new anthem will also be particularly exciting. The club is the oldest pure football club in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and the goal of 670 members shows the great interest in maintaining tradition.
Looking at the relevant figures of the league system, the football landscape in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is also exciting. The Mecklenburg Football Association (MFB) was founded in December 1904 with only three member clubs and significantly advanced the development of football in the region. lfvm-v.de gives an interesting overview of the development of football and the integration of the MFB into the North German Football Association.
The MFB's first championship, which was held from March to May 1905, initially took place as a single round, with Schweriner FC emerging as champions. The founding of Rostocker FC and other clubs in the region has shaped the football culture in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to this day and is also part of the tradition that is celebrated on the anniversary.
With an impressive number of 25 teams playing, the RFC is not only a place for sporting talent, but also for community and the joy of football. Come along as the RFC celebrates its 130th anniversary and experience a piece of living football history.
