Rostock Seawolves celebrate a strong away win against Bamberg!
In an exciting game, the Rostock Seawolves celebrated their second away win in a row in the Basketball Bundesliga. On Monday evening they defeated the BMA365 Bamberg Baskets with a clear 87:74 victory (40:39) and thus set a strong example in the table. This win is the Seawolves' fourth win in their eighth game and should further boost the team's confidence. n-tv reports that DeAndre Lansdowne was the best scorer with 17 points.
Before the game, coach Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz had urgently warned that Bamberg was one of the strongest offensive teams in the league. Bamberg has scored an impressive 91.9 points per game this season, while Rostock averages 82.1 points. As the Nordkurier notes, the Seawolves therefore needed a squeaky-clean defense to be successful in Bamberg. The loud support of the Bamberg fans didn't make the project any easier.
The course of the game
The beginning of the game was an exciting duel, which the Seawolves won 25:22 in the first quarter. The dominance on the rebound that Rostock was able to demonstrate in this phase was particularly impressive. However, things got tougher in the second quarter - both teams had difficulty scoring points. Despite the Seawolves' better performance, it was Bamberg who went into the half-time break with a narrow lead.
After the restart, Rostock initially fell behind when Austin Crowley scored a layup for Bamberg to make it 51:50. But the Seawolves were not discouraged. An impressive run with four successful distance throws catapulted Rostock back into the lead. In the final period, the Seawolves got serious and pulled away with a 16-3 series, which ultimately led to the preliminary decision. As n-tv reports, the final score was 87:74.
A look ahead
After this away win, the Seawolves can look forward to the next game, which is on Wednesday in the Europe Cup against Energa Trefl Sopot. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. With the motivation and newly acquired self-confidence, it is certainly not unreasonable to achieve a good result there too. The Rostock basketball players currently have the momentum they need to continue to surprise positively in the intense competition.
