New filming location in Göhren: More secrets from 'Praxis mit Meerblick'!

The picturesque backdrops of Rügen are not only a popular destination for tourists, but also a real insider tip for film and TV productions. The beautiful landscape of Germany's largest island is currently being impressively showcased in the ARD series “Praxis mit Meerblick”. This series has enjoyed great popularity since its premiere in 2017 and tells the stories of the island doctor Nora Kaminski, portrayed by Tanja Wedhorn. The start of the new season, which will be broadcast from May 2, 2025, is already in the starting blocks after filming for four new episodes was in full swing from August to October 2024.

The filming took place not only on Rügen, but also in Berlin. With exciting landscape shots, the series shows many well-known places on the island. These include the charming fishing port of Sassnitz, the famous chalk cliffs and the Baltic Sea resort of Binz, all of which are regularly seen on screen. What is particularly exciting is that it was filmed for the first time in Göhren, where scenes were shot in a rehabilitation clinic on the southern beach. These new locations expand the atmosphere created by the series and break with the previous settings.

Popular filming locations on Rügen

Nora Kaminski's shared practice is actually a converted holiday apartment in Sassnitz at Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 4. The exterior shots of the practice take place in the neighboring building, while the real island hospital in Bergen is used for the hospital scenes. Exterior photos of the clinic, however, can be found at the West Hospital in Stralsund. The apartment of Nora's ex-husband Peer is also filmed in the historic district of Prora, which is known for its impressive sandy beaches and historic architecture.

Rügen, as a backdrop for numerous productions, has even more to offer: The Grubnow estate on the Lebbiner Bodden and the traditional chalk cliffs in the Jasmund National Park are popular filming locations. In the ZDF series “Hello Robbie!” The Grubnow estate was also visible. The atmosphere of Rügen, with its constant interplay between sea and land, offers the perfect background for cinematic stories.

A look into the future

Filming for the new season ended on July 11, 2025, and the grand finale of the series was filmed in the “Volkswerft” maritime industrial park. With more than 26 episodes to this point, the show is popular and has earned a permanent place in the hearts of viewers over the years. The audience can look forward to the finale, which is expected to be broadcast on Erste next year. Also take a look at the creative filming, which wonderfully expresses the connection between human destinies and Rügen's nature.

With every episode it becomes clear that Rügen not only serves as a backdrop, but also as a living character who significantly shapes what happens on the screen. A visit to the island is not only a journey into nature, but also into the world of television. Viewers can be excited to see what stories from Nora Kaminski's practice await in the coming season.
