Celle celebrates colorful CSD: 1,000 participants set an example for diversity!
On June 14, 2025, Celle shone in bright colors when Christopher Street Day (CSD) was celebrated under the motto “Don't hide your Pride - Diversity is our way”. With around 1,000 participants, the event exceeded the organizers' expectations and became a shared symbol of diversity and acceptance. Celler-Presse reports on a peaceful and colorful atmosphere that filled the city that day.
The parade started at 2 p.m. at the station forecourt and led through the city center to the historic Celle Castle. A rally awaited the participants there, which was greeted with enthusiasm by the assembled guests. Among the speakers were Stephanie Genthe and Leon Nungesser, who pointed out the importance of the CSD. The highlight of the program were entertaining musical contributions and moving speeches that underlined the message of the CSD: to take a stand against prejudice and discrimination and to stand up for a social middle ground.
Commitment to equality
The CSD in Celle is not just a celebration, but also an important sign of political participation. The event actively campaigns against the growing anti-queer currents in society. An important goal is to create visibility for the LGBTQIA* community and promote respectful cooperation. So says Lueneburger Heide that the CSD offers space for exchange, encounters and empowerment.
The organizing team, QueerBeet Celle, managed the event with a clear focus on safety and well-being. Sunscreen and water were provided to protect participants from the heat, and there was a friendly warning against excessive alcohol consumption on such a hot day. In addition, special buses from “Müller's City Express” ensured an uncomplicated return journey.
The celebration continues
The celebrations did not end with the official part. After the event, “Celle – what’s up?!” was heard in the bar. invited to the after-show party, where everyone was able to end the day in style. Many participants were enthusiastic about the organization and the diversity that the CSD offered. Many thanks were expressed to sponsorships from the RWE Möller Foundation to initiatives such as “Grandmas Against the Right” and “Soroptimist International”.
Parallel to the local event, a study by Appinio emphasizes that 83% of Germans have already heard of the CSD, which shows how important and far-reaching the CSD message is outside of Celle. At a time when discrimination and prejudice against the LGBTQIA* community still exist, the commitment to equality remains essential.
In conclusion, it can be said that the CSD 2025 in Celle was more than just an event; it was a powerful symbol of solidarity and the tireless fight for equality and acceptance.
