Ice cream vending machine break-in in Delmenhorst: search for perpetrator underway!

An uninvited visit at night causes a stir in Delmenhorst and Lemwerder. Last night, two ice cream machines were broken into and the damage caused was extensive. The website delmenews.de reports that a vending machine on the premises of a flower shop on Oldenburger Landstrasse was haunted. Cash and all the ice cream were missing - the latter had even melted due to the incident.

An attentive witness in Lemwerder heard suspicious noises between midnight and 12:15 a.m. He watched as an ice cream machine was broken into outside a butcher's shop on Main Street. A suspect got out of a red Mercedes as a passenger and then quickly fled the scene. The Delmenhorst police will receive information about suspicious people or the vehicle on 04221/1559-0 and the Brake police on 04401/935-0.

View of the dark night

The burglaries were committed between Tuesday evening, November 25th, and Wednesday afternoon, November 26th, as well as during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. What is particularly annoying is the high level of material damage, which not only results in monetary losses, but also in melted ice cream products. According to regionalheute.de, the machines were badly damaged, which severely affected the attractiveness of the locations and trust in their safety.

Especially at a time when people are preparing to look forward to the cool treats in winter, this incident doesn't go down well. The machines are very popular on warm days, and the city is probably planning to expand such offers. However, if such incidents become widespread, it could reduce demand in the long run.

What can be done?

Protective measures against such nighttime break-ins could possibly be tightened. While frosted ice cream and delicious flavors should bring joy to residents, this offense leaves a bad aftertaste. How long will it take until the security of the machines is restored?

The police now rely on citizens who know or have seen something to come forward. After all, cohesion in the community also depends on shared vigilance - and perhaps the perpetrator can be caught quickly before more harm is caused.
