On November 5, 2025, an elderly couple in Immenberg, Gifhorn, fell victim to a brazen scam. At around 1:00 p.m., a supposed craftsman rang the doorbell and offered his services for roof work. The husband agreed and accompanied the “craftsman” into the attic. Meanwhile, he sent his wife into the basement, supposedly to get a bucket. The perpetrators used this distraction to search the ground floor for valuables and ultimately steal jewelry.

As the Gifhorn police report, the two men appear to be between 1.80 and 1.90 meters tall and strong, and around 30 to 40 years old. One of the perpetrators was wearing dungarees, while the other was wearing a knitted sweater and blue jeans. They fled in an unknown direction after carrying out their crime.
