Kaufland opens in Weende: 130 new jobs and a modern concept!

Great news for residents in the Weende district! On November 27th, Kaufland opened the doors of its newest branch on Lutteranger. This is the largest Kaufland branch in Göttingen, offering a whopping 44,000 items on a generous 6,600 square meters. After a three-year closure of the former Real store, the new Kaufland now fills a long-missed gap in the shopping landscape. In addition, 130 new jobs were created in Göttingen and the surrounding area, which not only brings a breath of fresh air to the region, but also offers many people a new perspective. Kaiserslautern and other places can pack in, there is a good deal here!

As the HNA reports, the new market will be equipped with the latest technology, which should make shopping even more pleasant for customers. Kaufland relies on innovation and a contemporary shopping experience.

New restaurant in the city center

But that's not all Weende has to offer! In downtown Göttingen, a new Junkernschänke restaurant is planning to move into one of the oldest and most attractive half-timbered houses in the city. The building owner from Hamburg has already found a new tenant, but unfortunately his name remains unknown. It remains exciting to see what awaits us there!

Change in purchase park and traffic reports

There are changes not only in the retail sector. In the purchase park in Grone, the management is changing from Völkel to MEC METRO-ECE. This shopping center, which covers almost 50,000 square meters of retail space, remains a central point of contact for the population. The current manager, Nico Seidel, will be leaving the business, raising questions about the future direction.

Another concern concerns the traffic situation on the A7 near Hann. Münden, where a truck carrying chemicals recently caught fire. While the fire was being extinguished, the motorway to the north had to be completely closed, which led to long traffic jams. However, the renovation work is expected to be completed by Thursday evening, meaning the highway should soon be reopened to traffic.

Legal challenges

Unfortunately, there is also less good news. A 23-year-old teacher has to stand trial for the murder of a 15-year-old girl. The girl's body was discovered in the Reinhäuser Forest at the end of June. The trial is scheduled to begin on December 17th and the dates are expected to last until March 2026. It remains to be seen how the legal steps will develop.

Göttingen, a city in transition, has a lot to offer and remains on the move. From new jobs to gastronomic changes to legal challenges – things stay exciting here!
