100 years of tradition: Hartwiger & Petersen butcher shop celebrates its anniversary!

An important anniversary was recently celebrated in the small town of Sohlingen: the butcher shop “Hartwiger & Petersen” can look back on a proud 100 years of successful existence. The traditional institution was founded in 1925 by Franz Breuker and has since developed into an indispensable part of the region. The company is currently managed by Dirk Petersen, who has been a master butcher since 1998 and took over responsibility in 2001. He is supported by his father Theo Petersen, who is also still actively involved in the company, as well as many committed employees.

The eventful history of the butcher shop tells of tradition and change. In 1949 Franz Breuker's daughter, Wilma, married Paul Hartwiger. This connection led to the takeover of the business in 1952. The numerous renovations and expansions that followed show that the butcher shop is not only firmly rooted in the heart of the family, but also in the Uslar location. In particular, the opening of a branch in 1959 on Neustädter Platz in Uslar was a significant step into the company's future.

Awards and recognition

During the celebrations, a certificate of honor was presented Hildesheim-South Lower Saxony Chamber of Crafts handed over. This institution represents around 8,000 companies and attaches great importance to the quality and prospects of skilled trades in the region. The mayor of Uslar, Torsten Bauer, did not miss the opportunity to convey his congratulations during the celebrations and emphasized the importance and high quality of the products from “Hartwiger & Petersen”. Dirk Petersen warmly thanked his employees, namely Elke Fetter and Klaus-Dieter Kobbe, for their commitment.

In the past, a large number of craftsmen and surrounding businesses have learned to appreciate the high standards that the butcher shop sets. The products are always offered fresh and at fair prices, which results in numerous positive reviews, for example about the excellent quality of the meat and sausage products. The butcher shop can also proudly report on its special onion meat, which is considered the best far and wide.

Generational change and future prospects

The family history is continued by the current generation, as Jan Petersen, the fifth generation descendant, has already joined the business as a journeyman butcher. This impressively shows that the family tradition in the butcher shop is not only preserved, but also developed further. The work of the Chamber of Crafts, which always places a high value on training and quality, plays a crucial role and ensures that the craft will continue to exist in the future.

The “Hartwiger & Petersen” butcher shop therefore remains not only an important employer in the region, but also a place where craft tradition meets modern industry.
