Important construction work at the Itzum pumping station starts on August 18th!
An important construction project is coming up in Hildesheim: The Hildesheim city drainage system will start replacing the inlet valves at the Itzum pumping station in an upstream shaft from August 18, 2025. The work is expected to take two weeks, which will mean some changes for many road users.
During the construction site, wastewater is diverted via a temporary pumping station and penstock to ensure smooth flow. Nevertheless, the city asks road users to be understanding and considerate, as vehicles use the cycle path and sidewalk on Beusterstrasse, along the “Am Roten Steine” nature reserve, several times a day. There is an exceptional permit from the city that ensures the necessary measures to carry out the construction work.
Regular updates
In order to keep residents up to date, updated information about the construction projects is posted weekly on the website www.sehi-hildesheim.de/baustellen published. This means everyone stays informed about what is happening around the construction site and what other topics are in focus in the city.
The construction work comes at the right time, as Hildesheim has repeatedly invested in the infrastructure in recent years. The renewal of such systems is of great importance in order to maintain the quality of supply in the future. This shows that the city has a good knack for tackling necessary modernizations in a timely manner.
As with any major project, there may be inconveniences in traffic flow. It is therefore all the more important that everyone affected is informed accordingly and uses the alternatives mentioned to bypass the construction site. It remains to be hoped that the work will progress quickly and that the Itzum pumping station will soon be able to be used to its full extent again.
