New morning team at NDR 1: Eulenstein & Bergholz take off!

The beginning of the new year brings a breath of fresh air for the morning shows on NDR 1 Lower Saxony. From January 19, 2026, a new moderation duo will welcome listeners: Isabel Eulenstein and Keno Bergholz. The team will be on air every morning from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m., alternating with the well-known presenters Susanne Neuß and Andreas Kuhlage. This change is no coincidence, as the radio station has built up a loyal listener base in Lower Saxony over 31 years. NDR 1 Niedersachsen has around 1.2 million listeners in Lower Saxony and 1.4 million nationwide every day, which is considerable for local broadcasting.

Isabel Eulenstein, born in Hamburg in 1987 and raised in the Hanseatic city, brings a wealth of radio experience with her. After studying moderation technology in Lübeck and cultural studies in Lüneburg, she worked at NDR 1 Radio MV since 2013 and later, from 2020, at NDR 1 Niedersachsen. She lives in the Hanover region with her husband and daughter. Keno Bergholz, on the other hand, has his roots in Emden, where he was born in 1994. He gained his first experiences in youth radio and then completed a traineeship at Radio Ostfriesland. After studying in Bremen, which trained him in politics and German studies, he has been a presenter at NDR Kultur since 2024 and also masters several musical instruments.

“Wideawa” with a new cast

The morning show “Hellwach” is not only filled with current information and stories from Lower Saxony, but also offers music hits from 50 years. This means that the program remains attractive to the broad target group, which consists not only of young listeners, but above all of people aged 50 and over. According to a current media analysis, the daily reach is 15.8 percent, which further strengthens the program.

A special highlight of the new team is an introduction video that is peppered with personal questions for Isabel and Keno and is available on the NDR 1 Niedersachsen website. Verena Kortmann, who moderates the show during the day and at weekends together with Andreas Kuhnt, will also remain in the program. Thanks to this personnel continuity, listener loyalty is not only maintained, but also revitalized.
