The Lower Saxony Ministry of Social Affairs, Work, Health and Equality has taken a big step in the community: an investment program with a total volume of 316 million euros for 2025 was decided. The aim is to modernize the medical infrastructure and to make it future -proof. It is particularly gratifying that institutions in the Oldenburg Münsterland will also benefit from these means. As the ses-Foundation will only be able to provide services if they meet certain specifications. These new performance groups replace the previous specialist departments and call for a differentiated view of the medical offers. From April 1st, the facilities can submit applications for the planned range of services to the Lower Saxony state government.

In Cloppenburg, the areas of internal medicine are primarily being reorganized. The main starting points include general internal medicine, geriatrics, gastroenterology and cardiology. The three chief physicians in these departments have already developed innovative concepts to optimize medical care. Dr. Achim Gutsohn has established a 24/7 infarction supply, while Dr. Borislav Benedek introduces new examination methods. Prof. Dr. Johan Lorenzen is new to the team and takes care of general internal medicine and geriatrics.

Future view and long -term investments

Lower Saxony also plans to invest over 500 million euros in the hospital infrastructure in 2024. Health Minister Andreas Philippi sees this as a way to reduce existing investment traffic jams and to promote new construction projects, such as NDR . The focus is on improving the clinics to make them more modern and future -proof.

In the next ten years, the state and municipalities plan to provide a total of three billion euros. In addition, up to 2.5 billion euros could flow from a federal transformation fund. The investments should also support the implementation of the nationwide hospital reform so that patient care in Lower Saxony remains at a high level.
