Sparkasse starts doubling campaign: 20,000 euros for club projects!
Sparkasse Hildesheim Goslar Peine has announced a new doubling campaign that begins on August 19, 2025. As part of this campaign, every private donation up to 100 euros will be doubled. This means that if someone donates, for example, 100 euros, the non-profit organization receives a total of 200 euros. This is the 15th campaign of this kind and once again shows the Sparkasse's commitment to the region. The platform www.heimatherzen.de is used to present the projects and collect donations. The campaign period runs until the budget of 20,000 euros is used up, which illustrates the haste with which many clubs will fight for support. Every project posted online automatically takes part in the campaign and thus enjoys the advantages of this generous doubling.
In 2024, more than 130,000 euros were mobilized through private donations in addition to the Sparkasse's commitment, which underlines the high interest and active participation of citizens. Club representatives have the opportunity to post their project via the platform and thus receive direct support from the population. There are no costs for the clubs, which makes this campaign particularly attractive.
Valuable projects in the region
A current example of the Sparkasse's commitment is the renovation of the Kugelwasserturm in Groß Ilsede, a striking landmark in the Peine district. This listed building is currently being repaired for around 1.5 million euros, with around 1.1 million euros coming from various funding, including money from the Sparkasse Hildesheim Goslar Peine. Dr. Arne Butt from the Niedersächsische Sparkassenstiftung and other Sparkasse representatives personally found out about the progress of the renovation work on site.
Mayor Nils Neuhäuser reported that the work is on the home stretch and on schedule, weather permitting. The community is already planning how the impressive tower will be used after its renovation, with ideas such as a wedding room and guided tours. This tower will not only keep the memory of the Ilseder mining and steel industry alive, but will also be a popular meeting place for the community.
Longer-term support from foundations
The Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe is known for its charitable commitment, which has a long tradition in Germany. In 2024, over 534 million euros were made available for charitable purposes, of which more than 78 million euros went as foundation distributions. Each savings bank foundation acts independently in its region and promotes initiatives in the areas of art, culture, sport and education. An example of this support is the DAVID Prize, which honors outstanding smaller projects and is endowed with up to 25,000 euros. In 2025, eight projects were nominated for this award, which once again shows how creative and committed the communities are.
Through its commitment, the Sparkasse not only contributes to improving the quality of life, but it also actively shapes the social infrastructure in the region. From promoting cultural offerings to supporting educational initiatives – the possibilities seem endless. Anyone who wants to get active has the perfect opportunity on August 19th to get involved and do something good not only for their club, but also for the entire community.
