Tom the cat needs your help: Donate for life-saving surgery!

The story of Tom the cat touches the hearts of animal rights activists in Wolfsburg. The little cat and his siblings were fostered by dedicated animal rights activists after they were found on the street at just five weeks old. The siblings were weak and sick, and Tom particularly suffered from a severe case of cat flu, which gave him sticky eyes and severe weight loss. Thanks to the loving care in a foster home, Tom was able to recover well and is now a playful and cuddly little companion.

But fate was not kind to him. On July 25, shortly before he was due to move to a new home with his sister, Tom seriously injured himself while playing. He broke his femur and could no longer move his leg. A visit to the vet confirmed that Tom now urgently needs surgery in a veterinary clinic so that he can run and play without pain. The operation is complicated, but absolutely necessary. Until then, he has to stay in the clinic and receives painkillers and loving care. The animal rights activists are calling for support and asking for financial help for the operation and subsequent aftercare.

Support for animal protection organizations

Tierhilfe Wolfsburg e.V. has campaigned for Tom and numerous other animals. Unfortunately, this is just one example from a large number of animal protection organizations in Germany that fight tirelessly for the well-being of animals. Many of these organizations are highly respected and work transparently, such as the Deutsche Tierschutzbund e.V., which is the largest animal and nature conservation umbrella organization in Europe with over 800,000 members. They are not only committed to pets, but also lobby for better animal-friendly legislation.

There are also initiatives such as FOUR PAWS - Foundation for Animal Welfare, which are primarily concerned with improving the living conditions of animals, and the Bund against the Abuse of Animals e.V. (bmt), which advocates against factory farming and for comprehensive animal protection. Such organizations often offer numerous opportunities for support, be it through sponsorships, donations or volunteer work.

A call for solidarity

Despite all the efforts, there are unfortunately still serious problems in animal husbandry. Many animals live in poor conditions, both in private households and in industrial livestock farming. Many animals experience cruel fates every year. The German Animal Welfare Society is committed to educating and raising awareness among the population in order to combat such abuses and enable animals to live a species-appropriate life.

That's why it's important to support the work of such organizations. Whether through direct donations to Tierhilfe Wolfsburg e.V. (IBAN: DE 61 2695 1311 0011 0661 07, BIC: NOLADE21GFW or via PayPal to tierhilfe.wolfsburg@t-online.de) or through the support of other animal protection associations - every help counts. So that little fighters like Tom can have the chance for a happy life.
