There was a lot going on in Dortmund's football scene on October 4th, 2025! Borussia Dortmund's U19s defeated Hamburg's FC St. Pauli 2-0 in the DFB Cup. A strong finish was in the air when Samuele Inacio confidently converted a penalty kick in the 83rd minute. Shortly afterwards, Tim Degener closed the bag and made it 2-0, which decided the thrilling game for Dortmund.
Coach Felix Hirschnagl was very satisfied with the patience and pace of his charges, especially after the tense preparation for the game. After all, the team had some difficulties getting through against the defensively oriented Hamburg team. Hirschnagl also emphasized the challenges in the DFB Cup. The players had to make seven changes to the starting eleven compared to the previous 4-0 defeat against Athletic Club. A bright spot was Taycan Etcibasi's return from injury - he came into the game as a substitute.
U17 with a strong derby
However, the joy among the fans that day was not just limited to the U19s. Dortmund's U17s also celebrated success in the derby against Schalke 04. In a 2-1 win, Till Burkhardt scored two goals, including a spectacular overhead kick. Schalke initially took the lead through Ehzan Rezai, but Burkhardt equalized with an impressive arc lamp shot and secured victory with his second goal.
The U17s now lead the championship table without losing any points, which only further underlines the team's performance under coach Marco Lehmann. The next opponent will be VfL Bochum, against whom the next game is on October 12th at 11 a.m. BVB goalkeeper Paul Hannig kept the goal clean until the 82nd minute and remains an important defensive factor.
