Torros Güstrow start strong: two wins at the start of the EHL!
The puck is rolling in Güstrow and the euphoria is palpable! The hobby ice hockey team “Torros” got off to a perfect start in the ice hockey hobby league (EHL) MV last weekend. With two wins from two games, they show that the ice hockey season will be exciting. The “Torros” first won 3-1 against the Müritz “Wikinger” and then 4-2 against the “farm team” of the Blizzards from Neubrandenburg. This strong start to the season puts the Güstrowers right at the top of the table, as Nordkurier reports.
The team, which was only able to compete with nine players due to injuries and absences, still put in an impressive performance. Captain Christian “Scholle” Schulz, together with Maik Garling, Mike Levermann, Frank Bauermann and Bruce Johnston, played a key role in the success. Despite a weak start, coach Steffen Beuster praised the commitment and team play of his players.
The current table position
With these results, the “Torros” now lead the EHL with a clear lead. There are a total of ten teams registered in the league and they are divided into groups EHL 1 and EHL 2. In addition to the “Torros”, the teams in EHL 1 are the “Vikings”, the “Hotwheels” from Rostock, the “Farmteam” and the REV Insel Usedom. The “Igelz” from Warsow, the Blizzards “Futureteam”, the Baltic “Fennecs” and the “Penguins” from Plau am See are active in EHL 2. The “Igelz” also got off to a strong start and are leading the EHL 2 after two wins against the “Futureteam” (7:2) and the “Penguins” (6:2), as Nordkurier notes.
Things will be particularly interesting on December 19th, when the “Torros” play their next game against the “Hotwheels” and the puck hunters from the island of Usedom. This encounter could set an important course for the rest of the season. The final day of the EHL will take place on March 8th, where a promotion and relegation game will take place between the fifth and first place in the respective groups.
A look at the title ambitions
The “Torros” have big goals and are aiming for their sixth title. They won their first title in the 2018/19 season. In the last season, 2024/2025, they were crowned champions again, completely contrary to their performance during the main round, where they were temporarily only in 5th place. Ultimately, however, they improved with two strong performances and won the title by defeating the “Vikings” and the “Hotwheels,” as Blizzards reports.
The “Torros” are now ready to take on the challenge of the new season. Their achievements so far send a strong message and the upcoming games promise a lot of excitement. Ice hockey fans in Güstrow can look forward to an exciting winter!
