Full dance floors at the teen disco: Wismar celebrates without pressure to consume!
On Friday evening the mood in the market hall in Wismar was at its peak. The first “teen disco” organized by the club took place there Light on the Horizon e.V. was organized in collaboration with the AWO and Hansekontor Wismar GmbH. The event was aimed at young people between the ages of 10 and 17 and offered a great opportunity to celebrate and socialize.
The hall shone with colorful light and was equipped with the latest sound technology, which contributed to the perfect disco atmosphere. DJ Tim ensured that the dance floor was always full with his beats. Thanks to volunteers, safety and supervision were also ensured during the event, which was very much appreciated by the young people and their parents.
A safe space for young people
A central concern of the organizers was to create a protected leisure offer that does not require consumer pressure and has clear rules. This is particularly important to give young people the opportunity to celebrate in a safe environment. The response was consistently positive: many parents praised the organization of the teen disco, and the young people expressed their wish for the event to be repeated. It could be that the teen disco will soon take a permanent place in Wismar's leisure calendar.
An additional highlight were the specials that enhanced the event. Among other things, dance battles took place and there were many creative options for the photo walls. Non-alcoholic cocktails rounded off the entertaining program, which focused entirely on the wishes of the young people.
Leisure activities for young people
Projects like the Teeny Disco are part of a larger initiative in regional youth and social work. The SPI Foundation emphasizes how important practical offers are for children and young people. These are not only based on the interests of young people, but also promote their personal responsibility and social participation and help to reduce discrimination. The projects are embedded in different social spaces and work together with school and extracurricular partners.
In summary, it can be said that the first teen disco in Wismar was not only a great success, but also represents an important step towards a broader range of leisure activities for young people.
