Brutal attacks on women in Celle: Police are asking for information!
In Celle, not far from the Celle train station, another brutal attack on a woman shocks the population. Today, November 25, 2025, a 63-year-old was attacked in an underpass and suffered serious injuries. She is currently receiving medical treatment while the police investigation is in full swing. How NDR Reportedly, a helicopter was even requested to support the investigation.
The Celle police have already set up a special commission because officers see a possible connection to two comparable incidents. These occurred in mid-October and mid-November and were directed against a 70-year-old and a 21-year-old. In these cases too, the women were attacked and strangled by an unknown perpetrator reports Celler Presse.
Attacks in the Dammaschwiese
The attacks took place in Dammaschwiese, a popular park area in the region. On November 12, 2025, the perpetrator attacked a 70-year-old near the Lachte Bridge, while on October 15 he attacked the 21-year-old not far from the medicinal herb garden. In both cases, the women were dragged into bushes and suffered serious injuries. The description of the perpetrator shows that the man wanted is between 30 and 45 years old, is 1.65 to 1.80 m tall and has a slim build. His appearance is described as Southeast European or West Asian, with a narrow face and dark, short hair adds Celler Presse.
In order to prevent such incidents in the future, the authorities appeal to the population to be vigilant and to immediately report any observation, no matter how small, to the police. The investigators rely on relevant information and can be reached on (05141) 277-0.
Social dimension: domestic violence and misogyny
The brutal attacks in Celle open a wound that is becoming increasingly visible in German society. The BKA's situation report shows that 308 women and girls were killed last year, often by partners or family members. Cases of domestic violence are constantly increasing - in Germany, almost 266,000 women were victims of attacks in 2024, an increase of around 10,000 compared to the previous year reports the Tagesschau.
Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt and Federal Family Minister Karin Prien have recognized the need for action and are planning, among other things, to introduce electronic ankle bracelets for perpetrators and to expand women's shelters. These important measures are necessary because there is already a shortage of more than 12,000 women's shelter places nationwide. However, the increasing willingness to report crimes can also lead to an increase in the number of registered crimes, which is why it is important to provide information about the topic and carry out educational work.
Looking at the events in Celle, it is clear that it is high time to take a joint stand against violence against women. This is the only way to ensure safe and respectful coexistence in our society.
